Male Laser Hair Removal

A Great Alternative To A (Gulp) Wax Job!

Permanent hair removal used to be only for women. Today it is the most popular cosmetic procedure for men under 35. Male laser hair removal has opened up a whole new market serving men who want to rid themselves of hair they feel is unsightly or growing in places it shouldn’t.

We’ve all laughed, well women probably laughed men cringed, at the comedy scene where the hairy chested guy gets a wax removal job. You just know how painful that had to be. But the fact is that hairless look had caught on and suddenly men had a new appreciation for the lengths that women go through to stay smooth.

In the last summer Olympics the male swimmers were about as hairless a group of men that you could ever find. This sleek shiny look became the rage and suddenly men were shaving their chests, arms, legs and suffering strained muscles trying to shave their backs. Not only is shaving a very temporary fix, but the hair grows back thicker and coarser, just like the beard on your face. There had to be a better way.

Enter male laser hair removal. This is a permanent solution for hair removal that is available to some men. I say some because it works best on dark coarse hair and light skinned complexions. Lighter hair and darker skin don’t react all that well to a laser and in fact the laser can leave white blotches on a darker complexion. The other limiter is the cost. Laser hair removal is not cheap and can run as much as $10,000 for removal of back hair.

It’s also takes multiple sessions (which builds the cost) to be completely effective. Hair has three stages of growth and the laser only works on one of those phases. All hair doesn’t grow at the same rate so repeated trips to the dermatologist are required to get total removal. However, once gone the hair is gone for good.

There are other alternatives of course but only electrolysis will provide permanent hair removal. By comparison, the laser procedure is a walk in the park compared to the pain involved with electrolysis. If you fit the right description and you can afford it, laser hair removal is the way to go.

One last bit of advice and warning about this procedure. Like any other fashion fad, a lot of people are jumping on the band wagon and opening up salons to provide this service. Lasers, particularly when used on inappropriate candidates can leave some permanent damage to your skin along with other temporary problems. Make sure the person who is doing this procedure is either a dermatologist or an experienced laser technician. Check credentials and run their name by BBC to make sure there are no complaints.

So male laser hair removal is here and probably here to stay based on it’s current popularity. If you just have to get rid of that briar patch on your back, and you’re not into incredible pain, then this is a procedure you ought to consider.
